About us
2 Bridies are a female duo playing live music both traditional and modern styles around the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, Spain.
From Ireland, Kate Conroy plays guitar, bass, drums, bohdran and principal vocals (not all at the same time necessarily). From England, Clare Atherton plays sax, flute, whistles, harmonica, panpipes, bodhran, vocals, EWI, occasionally a concertina, clarinet, zaphoon, stylophone and any other instrument from the vast arsenal when she feels like it.
Kate and Clare have been gigging around the island for many years. In early 2007 they were joined by Jaqueline Kay on piano, accordian & vocals, to form 3 Bridies. However in late 2009 Jaqueline returned to her native Scotland and so they became 2 bridies.
Their distinctive style, range and eclectic mix of musical sounds, styles and arrangements continue to entertain the many visitors to Lanzarote, both young and old.
2 Bridies are also available for weddings, both in church and the evening do. You can hear some 'in church' recordings in the play list below which are most popular at weddings.
